Khatiwada elected ACORAB Chair
Kathmandu / Jan 7: The Association of Community Radio Broadcasters Nepal (ACORAB) has elected Subash Khatiwada as its new chairperson for three years’ term.
The Association’s 12th General Assembly and Sixth Convention held here elected a 21-member new working committee headed by Khatiwada.
He garnered 142 votes and defeated his closest contender Kishor Jung Thapa with 132 votes, according to Election Committee member, Netra KC.
Meanwhile, Arjun Giri has been elected senior vice chairperson with Shashikala Dahal elected another vice chairperson from women’s quota. Likewise, Nimesh Karna has been elected vice chairperson from Madhes and Arjun Kumar Rai from indigenous group quota. Govinda Devkota, Bandana Danuwar and Laxman Khadka have been elected General Secretary, Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
The newly elected members include Kapildev Khanal, Bishnu Awasthi, Tika Jung Thapa, Druba Raj Dhakal, Shukraraj Bhandari, Dhan Laxmi Shahi, Lalita Kushmi, Ajaya Kumar Yadav, Ram Bharosi Mahato, Milan Gaha, Ganesh Kumar Shrestha and Purna Bahadur BK.
The seven provincial committees’ chairpersons are Bachu Narayan BK, Ashok Datta, Krishna Hari Ghimire, Shanti Gurung, KP Ghimire, Ramesh Kumar Gautam and Dirgha Raj Upadhaya.
Minister for Information and Communications, Surendra Kumar Karki, had inaugurated the Convention on Friday. RSS
