RPP demands public holiday on Prithvi Jayanti
Kathmandu / Jan 8: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has demanded a public holiday on Push 27, the birth anniversary of King Prithvi Narayan, the unifier of modern Nepal.
A party delegation led by Chief Whip Dilnath Giri that reached the President’s official residence, Shital Niwas Sunday to invite President Bidya Devi Bhandari to the reception the party is hosting on the Prithvi Jayanti, made this request before the Head-of-the-State.
On the occasion, the President, stating that King Prithvi Narayan who created the identity of the modern Nepal through unification, underlined the need of celebrating the Prithvi Jayanti as a ‘Unity Day’, according to Chief Whip Giri.
In her response to the RPP’s invitation, the President said she would timely inform the party about her presence on that day after discussions. RSS
