Traffic lights reinstalled at major intersections to ease vehicular movements
Kathmandu / Mar 27: Traffic police officials were busy on traffic management at the New Baneshwar Chowk till Tuesday morning.
But since Tuesday afternoon, the vehicular movements were on in line with the traffic lights after they were reconnected at the major intersections including New Baneshwar, Narayan Gopal Chowk, New Plaza Chowk, Putalisadak.
Traffic lights help traffic police to manage vehicular movement. More than half a dozen of traffic police were deployed at this Chowk for managing the huge traffic of Kathmandu.
With the traffic lights resumption, from today onward, the obligation to pass the vehicles through manual signals by traffic personnel has ended. Pedestrians are also crossing the road according to the traffic light signals.
There had been difficulty in the traffic managemen due to lack of traffic lights at the major thoroughfares in the Kathmandu Valley.
The Department of Road has installed the traffic lights at Maharajgunj Chowk, too. The Department has planned to connect the traffic lights in other main intersections to manage the huge traffic. If this plan is implemented, it will help traffic police ease vehicular movements in the capital.
The pedestrian lights have also been installed in other four places.
