Rastriya Janamorcha submits protest letter to Indian Embassy; UML urges to immediately end blockade

Chtra Bahadur KCKathmandu / September 30: Rastriya Janamorcha has submitted a protest letter to the Embassy of India, against the unannounced blockade by the Indian side against Nepal.

A delegation of the party led by Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC submitted an objection letter to the Indian Embassy stating that India’s blockade at the Nepal-India border has halted the entry of essentials brought from third countries. The party demanded an immediate resumption of blocked checkpoints to ensure smooth supply of goods to Nepal.

Clipping Nepal’s right to get an access to transport facility as a landlocked country is against the international law, party Chair KC said after submitting the protest letter. “Causing obstructions in the supplies to neighboring country citing the agitation is not a good one and is to ignore sentiments of the neighbour.”

All the people living on Nepali territory are equal. India’s blockade against Nepal indicates former’s attempt to interfere in national affairs which is never acceptable for sovereign Nepali, he asserted.

Meanwhile, the national cadres meet of the CPN-UML has urged the India government to immediately end the undeclared blockade it has imposed on Nepal.

The meet further said the blockade was not only against the national and international laws but also inhuman, so the Indian government must end it immediately.

UML Secretary Pradip Gyawali said the meet passed the resolution to demand the Indian government to put an end to the ongoing blockade to Nepal. The meet was of the view that the blockade was against the UN principles that respects the rights of the landlocked countries, and also against the friendship and trade agreement made in the SAARC.

Likewise the meet stressed that the act inciting people for blockade and stoke violence was condemnable. It is the sovereign rights Nepali citizens to write constitution on their own.

It also condemned the violence, vandalism and arson committed in different places despite having the new constitution.

All problems could be resolved through peaceful talks, it added.

The meeting has called on all the political parties and the Nepali people to more in unison for effective implementation of the new constitution while welcoming and congratulating the Nepali people for promulgation of Nepal’s constitution on Sept 20 through overwhelming votes in the CA. (RSS)
