NRNA calls to resolve ongoing situation through discussions
Kathmandu / September 30: The Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) has expressed concerns to the ongoing unease situation created in the country after the promulgation of the new constitution.
Issuing a press statement, NRNA President Shesh Ghale has said that the NRNs are deeply saddened to learn about such situation in the country adding that the country was going through a tough situation as the regular supply of daily essentials was affected and the people across the country, most importantly labourers and working class people were at the receiving end.
President Ghale has appealed to the concerned stakeholders to create an environment conducive to move ahead on the path of economic development and prosperity by converting the current situation to normalcy and address the complexities in an honest manner through mutual discussions from both the neighbouring countries Nepal and India that enjoy the age-old cordial relations.
Likewise, the NRNA has welcomed the promulgation of the new constitution drafted from the people’s representatives stating that the new charter is expected to be the milestone for country’s economic development. NRNA expressed concern as the current situation may discourage foreign investment in the country. The country is mulling to bring more foreign investment in the country in different sectors like hydropower and infrastructure development. Many foreign investors are looking an opportunity to invest in Nepal after the promulgation of new constitution but the ongoing strikes and protests of the country may discourage them.
NRNA have been making sizeable investment in Nepal. The ongoing strike might have adverse impact in the tourism sector of the country, which was already hit by the earthquake of April this year. This is the peak season for tourist arrival but few tourists who have booked for their visit have started cancelling their trip says tourism entrepreneurs. Tourists are hesitating to visit Nepal due to current turmoil, so, this is the time we all should unite and give the message to the entire world that Nepal is a safe destination. (RSS)
