India expresses commitment to resume supply of goods
Kathmandu / October 3: As the nation united against India’s interference to the internal affairs of the country and people endured enormous problem due to scarcity of petroleum products, the Government of India has expressed commitment not to allow hurdles in the import of petroleum products and daily essentials from India into Nepal.
The Indian Government expressed commitment to play a facilitating role to end adverse situation seen in the supply of goods to Nepal via Nepal-India border for the past few days, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said quoting Nepal’s Ambassador to India. Deep Kumar Upadhyay.
With this commitment from India, import of goods from India is expected to be easier from tomorrow. India’s move is seen as blocking the Nepal’s effort to bring goods from China. The government was working to bring petroleum products from northern neighbor after India’s blockade. The transit route between Nepal and China opened today and the custom points are likely to resume in a couple of days.
Meanwhile, in his meeting with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae discussed Nepal-India relations and import of essential supplies including the petroleum products.
PM Koirala appealed to Indian envoy Rae to make efforts at the highest level that the Indian government facilitated the regular and smooth supply of the essential goods, including petroleum products, from India, shared Prakash Adhikari, Press Coordinator of the PM.
In response, Rae said that supply of petroleum product was already smoothened from some bordering points since Friday. He assured that the supply would be easier in other bordering points by Sunday, according to Press Coordinator Adhikari.
Expressing their anger against India’s move Nepali people have appealed the government not to accept unnecessary pressure of India rather they are ready to face problems for some days. They have started supporting fellow Nepali citizen for their movement and also appealing all not to take stock of goods rather to support other people. People have started riding bicycle and walking in a short distance so that people travelling to long routes get space in vehicles. People of Nepal remained united during the critical situation as India tried to interfere in the internal affairs of the country and imposed undeclared blockade to Nepal.
Dancing at the tune of India some Madhesh based parties of Nepal also supported India by organizing protest in border point. India citied self-planned protest as an excuse to impose blockade to Nepal. India was compelled to resume export of goods after Nepal made an attempt to bring goods from northern neighbor China.
