2.5 million support for computer education in school; Bhattarai bags Nutrition journalism award

computersMyagdi / October 15: A non-resident Nepali has instituted a revolving fund of Rs 2.5 million to run computer education at Mahadev Secondary School in Beg of Myagdi district.

Yog Kumar Fagami, who is originally hailing from Beg and now residing in the United Kingdom, instituted the fund in memory of his father Sab Bahadur Fagami. The plan is to purchase and install computers and arrange a computer teacher at the school from the interest of the fund.

Fagami informed that the fund was set up to provide modern technical education to the rural students in a convenient manner. As many as 200 students are pursuing their education in the school established in 2025 BS. Ex-Gorkha Army Fagami was the former chairperson of Mona Myagdi and vice-chairperson of Non-resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Gorkha Chapter.

Most of the schools in remote areas lack basic infrastructure like computer and internet until the completion of secondary level, so, there are efforts from different donors and NGOs to provide computers to remote schools so that students can widen their knowledge.

In another positive news, this year’s nutrition journalism award has been presented to journalist Rabin Bhatatrai of Taplejung.

The award was given away to journo Bhattarai for his journalistic writings in the area of health and nutrition. He was provided the award amidst a programme organized here on Wednesday. The SUAAHARA Nutrition Project which has been operational in 41 districts across the country provided the award to Bhattarai this year. The SUAAHARA gives away the award to a journalist acknowledging the contribution to the health and nutrition sector every year.

Acting Local Development Officer Durga Prasad Shrestha handed over the award to journo Bhattarai with a shawl. Journalist Bhattarai who has been in journalism field for the past eight years now is professionally associated to the Image Television and Nepal Samacharpatra daily. RSS
