‘I don’t mind being called Figure Coca Cola’

Coca ColaKathmandu: Actor Ashishma Nakarmi is excited about her film ‘Adhakatti,’ but won’t reveal anything about her role in the film. In a recent chit-chat, the actor, however, talked about her experience working in ‘Adhakatti,’ why she loves being called ‘Figure Coca-cola’ and why watching Nepali films should develop as a culture in Nepal. Excerpts:

‘Timro Figure Coca-cola’ has over 610,000 views on Youtube. Do you think this has promoted ‘Adhakatti’ well?

We knew this song would strike a chord with the audience. It’s a peppy number, and many people have started recognizing me after watching the song. Many even call me ‘Figure Coca-cola’ and that really makes me happy. Not because I have a great figure, but because it gives us artists immense happiness when people know us by the work we’re associated with. While I don’t believe a song can determine the success of the film, I can say that it has definitely pulled the audiences’ interest.

What is ‘Adhakatti’ really about? Tell us about your role, too.

Well, I want both of these to be a surprise. By the promos of the film, it can easily be inferred that it’s an entertaining film that will make you laugh. To know more, let’s wait for the release of the film.

But why do you think audiences should watch ‘Adhakatti’ this Dashain?

This is a frequently asked question and I really get annoyed whenever anyone asks me this. Why shouldn’t anyone watch ‘Adhakatti’? Or any other Nepali film for that matter? You know it’s upon all of us to help this industry grow; going to the cinema to watch Nepali films should develop as a culture. How can you say if the movie is worth your time and money without even making an effort to watch it? All I can assure the audience for now is that ‘Adhakatti’ will give you a reason to laugh this Dashain.

How was the experience of working in ‘Adhakatti’? What did you learn from it?

I enjoyed every moment spent shooting for the film. We had to take several retakes for couple of scenes because we couldn’t just hold our laughter while delivering certain dialogues. I don’t want to reveal much, but it was a crazy experience, and I’m pretty sure audience will go through the same experience while watching the film.

Every new project is a learning experience, and from ‘Adhakatti’ I’ve realized how vital the role of the banner is. I’m really content with the kind of exposure and promotion working under this banner has given me. Of course the most important thing to consider while selecting a film is its story, cast and crew, and one’s role, but without a good banner, it will be really difficult to reach out to the audience.

So what are your expectations from the film?

I hope to establish myself as a good actor, and for the audience to know and appreciate my work.
