Legislature-Parliament forms sub-committees to finalize bills; Khatiwada appointed VP of NPC

Yuvaraj KhatiwadaKathmandu / November 4: The Legislation Committee of the Legislature-Parliament formed five different sub-committees to finalize the Bill on amending the Civil and Criminal Laws and on amending and integrating the Laws Related to Procedure of Cases.

A seven-member sub-committee has been constituted under the coordination of Radheshyam Adhikari for finalizing the Bill Designed to Amend and Integrate the Civil Laws, 2071.

A meeting of the Legislation Committee today formed another sub-committee under it with Rewati Raman Bhandari as the coordinator for finalizing the Bill Designed to Amend and Integrate the Laws Related to Procedures of Civil Cases.

Likewise, the sub-committee formed under the coordination of Krishna Bhakta Pokharel has been assigned the responsibility of fine-tuning the Bill Designed to Amend and Integrate the Laws Regarding Criminal Offences.

The committee decided to constitute a seven-member sub-committee assigning Laxman Lal Karna as the coordinator for finalizing the Bill Designed to Amend and Integrate the Laws Related to the Procedures on Criminal Cases.

Similarly, the committee assigned the responsibility of reforming several topics in the Bill Designed to Make Provisions on Determining and Enforcing Penalty for Criminal Offences, 2071 and making it in tune with the time to the sub-committee with Ram Narayan Bidari as the coordinator.

The meeting of the committee constituted these sub-committees so that it would be easier to revise the different Bills incorporating the amendment proposals tabled by the lawmakers on each clause of the Laws and the suggestions given by the experts while concluding that it would not be that practical to hold clause-by-clause discussions on these Bills in the full meeting of the committee. In another news, the government has appointed Dr Yubraj Khatiwada the Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC).

Today’s meeting of the Council of Ministers took the decision in this regard, said Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Agni Kharel. Earlier, Khatiwada had also served as Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank and Vice Chairman of the NPC.

Kharel said that the meeting also expressed sadness over the bus crash at Ramche in Rasuwa on Tuesday, killing at least 36 and injuring over 45. The meeting also directed concerned authorities to provide treatment to the injured persons, he added.

Likewise, the meeting decided to provide one million rupees in relief to the kin of Assistant Sub Inspector Thaman BK, Constable Dev Bahadur Pandey and Constable of Armed Police Force Kashiram Kami killed during the Tarai agitation.

Similarly, the meeting has approved the application for Industry Minister Som Prasad Pandey to take part in the 16th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation to be held in Vienna, Austria from November 30 to December 4. RSS
