Cabinet meet passes special proposal pledging to solve Tarai problem

oli-cabinet-1st-meetingKathmandu / November 9: The meeting of the Council of Ministers Monday passed a special proposal, expressing commitments to finding a solution to the ongoing Tarai-Madhes problems through talks and negotiations with the agitating parties.

The government has already guaranteed free treatment of those injured in course of the agitation in the Tarai, agreed to provide one million rupees as relief assistance to the families of those killed during the agitation and initiated a process to withdraw lawsuits (proved false) against the cadres of agitating parties, the meeting said, sincerely calling on the agitating parties to withdraw the programmes of shutdowns and border based protests on the eve of festivals and to be effortful for normalizing the public life.

The government said it is much worried about inconveniences to the people across the country caused by the blockade and thanked the people for demonstrating patience, tolerance and goodwill in these tough times.

The proposal stated that the government was ready to move ahead holding talks with the agitating parties and adopting maximum flexibility to resolve the problems peacefully.

The meeting also called on the southern neighbour India to contribute to end obstructions seen in the supplies and transport on Nepal-India border, regularize the import of medicines, cooking gas and petroleum products into the country and further strengthen the bilateral relations existing between the countries since years.
