Jiri Airport to resume after 25 years

Jiri AirportJiri / November 10: The airstrip at Jiri is to be brought into operation after 25 years of its closure.

Addressing a tea reception and greeting exchange programme organised by Jiri Chamber of Commerce and Industry today, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ananda Prasad Pokharel said that process would be forwarded immediately to bring the closed airport into operation to develop Jiri as a tourism hub.

The 400 square-feet airport has now turned into a pasture. Number of foreign and domestic tourists visiting Solukhumbu via Jiri would increase once the airport resumed. RSS
