Renewable Energy Exhibition kicks off

solar panelKathmandu / November 11: An exhibition on renewable energy has kicked off at the Nepal Art Council in the capital city from today.

Organized with an objective to introduce the public to the various forms of alternative energy source at a time when the country is reeling under widespread fuel-crisis, the two-day event is organized by the District Development Office (DDO), Kathmandu in collaboration with the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre and Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST).

The exhibition has more than 25 stalls, offering information about electronic vehicles, bio-mass fuel, firewood stove, improved-stove and briquette among others. Many of the products in the display are home-made with reasonable price.

Inaugurating the exhibition, Minister for Science, Technology and Environment Biswendra Paswan urged the visitors to take advantage of the exhibition at a time when the trade embargo was playing havoc with the public lives.

More such events will be organized in various places in the Kathmandu Valley, according to him.

Minister Paswan also appealed to the public to be energy-efficient and frugal at such fuel-crisis.

Present at the programme were Krishna Chandra Poudel, Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, Tritharaj Bhattarai, Chairman of DDO, Kathmandu, Jeevraj Pokharel, Vice-Chancellor of NAST among others. RSS
