Sports Minister pledges to end irregularities in sports sector

National Sports CouncilKathmandu / November 17: Minister for Youth and Sports Satyanarayan Mandal has said that misconducts and irregularities surfaced in the country’s football sector have inflicted hurt to nation’s sovereignty.

At a face-to-face programme organised by Reporters’ Club here Tuesday, the Sports Minister underlined the need of bringing about overhauling improvements in the entire sports sector.

The disciplinary action taken by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) against All Nepal Football Association President Ganesh Thapa has drawn the government serious attention, he said, adding that he has already proposed the government to form a probe committee to find out the facts surrounding allegations on Thapa.

The dismal performance still dominating the sports sector has promoted anomalies there, he said, adding that he was committed to maintaining the image of sports sector.

Also speaking on the occasion, Member Secretary of National Sports Council (NSC) Keshab Kumar Bista has said the Council was awaiting a formal letter from the FIFA’s move against ANFA Chair Thapa for taking further action on the case.

ANFA Vice President Karma Chhiring Sherpa said the FIFA’s declaration that irregularities were pervasive in the Nepal’s football sector has proved their voices on the same raised for the past two years right. RSS
