NIC directs government to impart factual information on supply arrangement

government logoKathmandu / November 26: The National Information Commission (NIC) has directed the government authorities to ensure outreach of factual information on the supply arrangement to the general public.

A meeting of NIC with the chiefs of concerned government agencies today directed the latter to provide objective information to the citizens since they have been facing inconvenience and trouble for no knowledge about the supply arrangement of essential goods.

The Commission has instructed the government agencies to form a central monitoring unit along with district monitoring committees in all 75 districts with representatives from the organizations working for costumer’s rights for effective market monitoring.

The government agencies were also asked to take initiative to increase the import of essential goods, make distribution system effective and inclusive and inform local people about the distribution of essential goods through the accessible means such as mikes and pamphlets.

Likewise, the Commission has underlined the need for making alternative arrangement of supply and disseminating adequate information to the people on power supply as well.

The meeting presided over by Chief Information Commissioner Krishna Hari Baskota was attended by NIC’s Commissioner duo, Kiran Pokharel and Yashoda Timsina, Secretary at Ministry of Commerce and Supply Indra Prasad Upadhyay, Inspector General of Police Upendra Kanta Aryal, Chief District Officer of Lalitpur Yadav Prasad Koirala, Director General of Department of Drugs Management Bal Krishna Khakurel and Joint Secretary at Ministry of Commerce and Supply Shambhu Ghimire, among others.
