Cases of VAW decrease — 16 Days activism against GBV

map of dangTulsipur / December 1: As the country is celebrating 16 Days activism against gender based violence different programs are being organized across the country to raise awareness about sexual and gender based violence, rights of men and women among others. This year the day is being celebrated across the country with the theme ‘From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Make Education Safe for All!’.

While the country is celebrating the 16 Days activism against gender based violence, there is a positive new of decreasing trend of violence against women. Violence against Women are rampant in different parts of the country due to patriarchal mindset and social and cultural taboos.

Registration of cases of domestic violence against women (VAW) in the police office has gone done in the Dang district.

The District Police Office, Dang, said that a total of 19 cases of domestic violence against women were registered so far in the current fiscal year.

Chief of Dang Police Kuber Kadayat said that 16 cases were settled in the police office while three others were sent to the District Court. Kadayat added that 30 cases of domestic violence against women were registered during the review period in the last fiscal year.

Kadayat argued that rise in women’s educational attainment, increased consciousness level in the society and the programmes launched in different times to raise awareness of the commoners have contributed to the better result in regard to VAW. RSS
