‘Collective commitment needed to end VAW’

16 days activismPalpa / December 5: Various speakers in a programme have pointed out collective commitment to end violence against women (VAW).

At a regional workshop, “Our Collective Commitment against VAW”, organised by the CPN (UML), Palpa, they stressed the need of attention implementation along with collective commitment to end VAW as it does not end only wish of women.

On the occasion, CPN (UML) politburo member Parashuram Meghi Gurung said that it was necessary to end all types of social problems as the country has entered to new era after promulgation of the new constitution.

Gurung further said that VAW would be ended if all political parties were able to formulate a common agenda for the end of all types of social evils and aberrations.

Similarly, CPN (UML) central committee member Thakur Gaire said that superstition and social evils and aberrations are become obstacles in building a modern society.

Former member of the National Women’s Commission, Dhan Kumari Sunar, advocate Pundevi Maharjan and Chairperson of the Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Association of Nepal, Rita Bhandari, presented working papers. RSS
