Ilam / December 10: The Kanchanjunga Organic Tea Estate based in Sankhejung-7, which has been continuously producing organic tea for the past three years, has exported 1,300-kg readymade organic tea this year.

The branded organic tea produced by local farmers, cooperative groups and industries have been exported to Taiwan, Japan and Russia. They have exported tea worth Rs 2.6 million at Rs 2,000 per kilogram this year, shared Kanchanjunga Tea Estate proprietor Dambar Bahadur Khatry.

However, the tea producer Estate noted that it was difficult to export 10,000-kg organic tea processed after collecting it from farmers and groups.

“All the organic tea produce would have been exported but its transaction has been limited with the difficult movement of foreign tea traders in our country following border-based Indian blockade”, Khatry said, adding the trade embargo if remained same would erode the total tea business. RSS
