Call for disabled-friendly buildings

Gorkha / December 12: Stakeholders have stressed the need for constructing disabled-friendly houses, buildings and other infrastructures in the post-quake reconstruction efforts.

The new buildings should be friendly to the people with disabilities, and the reconstruction and rejuvenation works should be started sooner than later, they said at a programme organised by Progressive Disabled Association with support from the Netherlands Leprosy Relief in Gorkha on Friday.

On the occasion, the speakers said that people with disabilities were facing hardships as the government offices and buildings were not disabled-friendly.

During the programme, Chairman of Association Amar Gurung said that the new constructions from toilet to building and others as well should be made disabled-friendly while focusing on the reconstruction.

Likewise, lawmaker Chham Bahadur Gurung expressed his commitment to take initiatives for constructing the disabled-friendly buildings. RSS
