Elephant festival in Chitwan

Kathmandu, Dec 18: The 12th annual ‘Chitwan Elephant festival is to be held this year from coming December 26 to 30 under the main theme of ‘social protection and prosperity’.
Elephant race, game of football among the elephant calf, elephant beauty contest and awareness about the daily life of an elephant are the major highlights of the festival. The Elephant race this year however has been converted into elephant fast walk, according to the festival organizing committee coordinator Suman Ghimire.
Cultural activities, boating, cart race among others will also be organized in the festival. The festival held every year is being organized despite the scarcity of tourists as a result of the economic blockade imposed by India. RSS
