Government to launch agricultural app

government logoKathmandu / December 31: Nepal Telecommunications Corporation, Ministry of Agriculture Development and Agriculture Management Information System on Thursday reached an agreement for cooperation to disseminate special information to the farmers on agriculture climate.

At a programme held in the capital city, Nepal Telecom Chief Business Officer Rajendra Nakarmi and Agriculture Management Information System Project Director Shiva Nandan Shah signed the agreement paper.

As per the agreement, farmers will be provided cost free SIM cards with Rs 100 talk value, launch ‘Hamro Krishi’ mobile app for standard service, prior agro information system, toll free number (16600177779), audio notice and agriculture info SMS among other service.

The farmers with Android Smart Phone will be able to avail of information on climate, agricultural and technological information, agriculture office’s number, insurance policy, and stories of success through the ‘Hamro Krishi’ app.

In the first phase, programmes will be launched in eight districts, eight more in the second phase and nine districts in the third round summing up to be 25 districts in overall, as per the agreement.

On the occasion, Agriculture Development Ministry’s Joint Secretary Dr Shyam Prasad Poudel said the farmers would benefit from this programme.

Nepal Telecom Chief Business Officer Narkarmi said the NTC was feeling proud to extend support under its social corporate responsibility in the interest of farmers and the agricultural sector’s development.

The farmers would be provided cost-free 1,500 SIM cards in the first phase and 4,000 SIM cards in the second phase with Rs 100 talk value. RSS
