Show case notice to CIAA Commissioner Gurung

CIAAKathmandu / January 4: The Supreme Court on Monday has issued an order urging Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Sabitri Thapa Gurung to show cause for not resigning from the post of reader at the Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus.

A single bench of Justice Gopal Parajuli handed down the show cause notice asking Gurung to submit the response within 15 days. The decision comes in response of a writ petition filed by advocate Ramesh Kafley on behalf of Bir Prasad Shrestha on December 31, arguing that it was against the constitutional and legal provisions for Gurung to hold two government posts simultaneously.

Gurung continues to work as a reader at the Campus, claims the writ petition. As per Article 238 (8) of the Constitution, any individual appointed as Chief Commissioner or Commissioner is not allowed to hold any other government post. RSS
