Grand welcome to Nepali players winning Bangabandhu Goldcup
Kathmandu / January 23: The Nepali players winning the title of Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Championship have been welcomed home grandly on Saturday.
The football fans waving national flags and chanting national anthems welcomed the arrival of the team at Tribhuvan International Airport at 3:00 pm. “Whose victory is this? Nepal’s Nepal’s,” the fans greeted the team with cheers.
Former minister for Youth and Sports Purushottam Poudel, the officials from National Sports Council and of All Nepal Football Associations and many other professionals had reached the TIA to receive the winning team.
After their arrival, the team with the orchestration of the panchai baja band was taken to Dasharath Stadium via Gaushala, Putalisaddak and Shahid Gate.
They were formally welcomed by Member Secretary of the NSC, Keshav Kumar Bista, Acting Chairperson of ANFA, Narendra Shrestha, General Secretary Dhirendra Pradhan and others at the programme organized at the Stadium.
On the occasion, lead coach Bal Gopal Maharjan said Nepal won the game, for it played devoting to nation and maintaining discipline.
On Friday, the Nepali team trounced Bahrain 3-0 in the Bangabandhu Stadium of Bangladesh. RSS
