Nepal defeats Ireland and qualifies for quarter finals of U-19 CWC

Nepali U 19 Cricket PlayersKathmandu / January 30: Nepal registered its second straight win to book a place in the quarter-finals of ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup underway in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

In the match today, Nepal defeated Ireland by eight wickets to build on the remarkable win against New Zealand.

After restricting Ireland to 131 runs, Nepal easily achieved the victory target of 132 runs in 25.3 overs at the loss of 2 wickets. Ireland had made the total at the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

For Nepal, Yogendra Singh Karki topscored with 61 runs not-out in the match while Aarif Sekh got 31 runs not-out. Likewise, Sunil Dhamala contributed 28 runs.

Earlier, bowling first after losing the toss, Nepal bundled out nine members of their opposition, thanks to a five-wicket haul by Sandip Lamichhane including a hat trick.

Nepal will play its final match of the league against India on February 1. RSS
