Human Rights work plan to be executed soon

NHRCKathmandu / February 1: Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi on Monday said the Human Rights’ National Work Plan would soon be implemented.

Speaking at an interaction held by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Dr Subedi stressed that the government employees’ focus must now be diverted towards addressing the increasing complaints that government mechanism has fallen short of being accountable to the people. He said the parties’ commitment through election manifestos to declare schools as a ‘zone of peace’ did not materialize in action.

On the occasion, NHRC Chair Anupraj Sharma complained that the government was not serious towards implementing the national work plan, which includes subjects of serious and important natures.

NHRC members Prakash Wosti, Mohana Ansari and Govinda Sharma Poudyal said the Commission was doing home work on formation of a separate mechanism for effective monitoring of the work plan execution. RSS
