Border surveillance up for child trafficking control

Baitadi / February 3: The District Child Welfare Committee has upped border surveillance in order to prevent child trafficking citing the checkpoints adjacent to Indian border are prone to trafficking of children.

As there is high risk of child trafficking via the border points, efforts have been made to control the social problem, said Child Rights Officer Keshab Eir.

“A district-level orientation programme has been organized on child rights”, he shared.

The national and international instruments including UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Human Trafficking Control Act-2064 BS have termed human trafficking as a crime.

The campaign against child trafficking has been initiated for the implementation of the provisions enshrined in the Convention and other Acts, Eir shared. RSS
