58 big water sources spotted in Chitwan

Chitwan National ParkRatnanagar / February 3: The Chitwan National Park (CPN) in Chitwan district has recently spotted 58 water sources within the Park and buffer zone.

The Park found 38 water sources within the Park whereas 20 in the buffer zone, according to Ramchandra Kandel, Chief Conservation Officer at the CPN.

Among the newly spotted water sources, five of them span over 10 hectares in area while 29 water sources measure within 10 hectares in area and rest span around one hectare, said Kandel.

The wetlands spans 256 hectare in the Park, added Kandel. The Park has started conserving the newly found water resources, acknowledging its importance for wildlife and forest.

The locals are also joining this effort as they realize the importance of the wetlands, wildlife to ecology, according to the Park. RSS
