Buddhist countries’ culture ministers to be invited for Buddha Jayanti celebration

Kathmandu / February 7: The government is to invite Culture Ministers from the Buddhist countries to the 2526 Buddha Jayanti celebrations and Buddhist Conference to be held in coming May.

At a meeting of the Lumbini Development Trust held today to discuss about the preparations for the upcoming Buddha Jayanti, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Poudel shared this information.

The government is to celebrate the 2526 Buddha Jayanti on coming May 21 under the theme of “Lumbini, Nepal: Lord Budhha and Source of Buddhism”. On the eve of the Buddha Jayanti, the government has decided to hold the Buddhist Conference May 19-20.

Representatives from national and international Buddhist organisations, Buddhist followers and scholars on Buddhism will be attending the conference. The government is to form 101-main celebration committee to make the events successful, according to Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Kumar Rai said. RSS
