Gaurika wins fourth medal setting a national record; 30 medals in Nepal’s purse

SAG LogoGuwahati (India) / February 10: Nepal added a silver medal to its tally of medals in the 12th South Asian Games underway in Assam and Shillong of India.

Gaurika Singh won silver in 200 meters medley with a national record as well. This is her fourth medal including one silver and three bronze in the current SAG, also becoming the first Nepali to win four medals in the event.

Similarly, Nepal has today won five more silver medals in Wushu competition under the 12th South Asian Games.

Jharana Gurung, Juni Rai, Bindu Pun, Hari Prasad Gole and Rajesh Chaudhary won the silver medals in Wushu.

Jharana was defeated by Yumnam Sanathoi Devi of India towards female Shanshou in the under- 52 kg weight group and won the silver medal while Juni Rai won the silver medal towards female Shanshou under 60 kg weight category.

Similarly, Bindu Pun won silver medal, facing defeat to Puja Kadiya of India under female Shanshou 70-kg and Rajesh Chaudhary won silver medal in male Shanshou 56 kg.

Likewise, Hari Prasad bagged the silver medal in Thaulo of Wushu. With this, the number of medals won by Nepal in the 12th SAG has reached 30. Nepal has got one gold, 12 silver and 17 bronze medals so far in SAG. RSS
