Govt. to intensify construction works of 4 road sections

RoadroadKathmandu / February 12: Government has prioritized to construct, expand and blacktop four road sections linked with Chinese border.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Transport Devendra Karki informed that the Ministry has prioritized to complete the construction works of road sections which connect with Chinese border points like Kimathanka of Sankhuwasabha, Tatopani of Sindhupalchowk, Kerung of Rasuwa and Korala of Mustang by two years.

He added that 84-kilometre out of 310-Kilometre of Biratnagar-Kimathanka road section is to open the track while other road sections were being upgraded.

The 40-Kilometre road section from Barhabishe to Kodari would be blacktopped with in this period. Similarly, the Department of Road has stated that road section up to Kerung would be upgraded to two-lane and would be blacktopped soon.

Likewise, the 82-Kilometer Galchhi-Rasuwagathi road section is yet to be blacktopped, however upgrading works of other road sections were in progress.

The spokesperson Karki informed that the Ministry has estimated Rs 60 million to Rs 100 million costs for blacktopping one kilometer road section in all the four border points.

The ministry sources have said that the Government of China has shown interest for supporting for the construction of the 40-kilometer road section from Barhabishe to Tatopani and the 15-kilometer road section from Syaphrubesi to Rasuwagathi

The Ministry was planning to complete the construction works of these road sections within two years so as to make the road sections operational for 12 months. RSS
