India visit to improve Nepal-India ties ending misunderstanding: PM Oli

Kathmandu / February 18: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that his India visit scheduled from February 19 would be focused on improving Nepal-India relations by ending misunderstanding.

Inaugurating the 68th anniversary of the Nepal Council of World Affairs here today, Prime Minister Oli said that Nepal-India relation would be improved keeping nationality, sovereignty and integrity in mind in course of India visit scheduled from February 19-24.

The PM’s entourage comprises 46 members including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Home Minister Shakti Basnet and PM’s chief advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal.

Similarly, the delegation also comprises Chief Executive Officer at the National Reconstruction Authority, members of the Legislature-Parlaiment, the Chief Secretary, high-officials at different ministries, media persons and representatives of the private sector.

Prime Minister Oli said that the government has focused its attention to head the country towards the path of economic development with the implementation of the new constitution, promulgated through democratic process guaranteeing rights of all communities.

“The constitution has incorporated inclusive and proportional representation, and ensured rights of people to education and health among others. All citizens are equal before the constitution and all should play equal role in its implementation,” he said.

Saying that political situation has improved lately, he expressed his belief that the situation would get much better in the days to come. He also added that the incumbent government was committed to addressing problems facing people.

Meanwhile, the council also honoured Nepali Congress leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat who was also honoured as ‘best finance minister’ globally by UK-based the Banker Magazine recently.

Speaking on the occasion, he stressed on the need to speed up reconstruction of structures ravaged by April 25 earthquake with the help of national and international community.

Likewise, council chairman Dr Rajendra Bahadur Shrestha urged various political party leaders to work for the development of the country beyond personal and political interests. RSS
