Bagmati clean-up campaign continues; Eight tonnes of garbage collected

People involved in cleaning Bagmati River of Kathmandu. The initiative is being continued since 124 weeks to clean holy river of Kathmandu.

Kathmandu / February 20: Eight tonnes of garbage was collected from the Bagmati river and its bank in the Shantinagar Area in the 145th week of the Bagmati River Cleanliness Great Campaign.

The Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Kathmandu Metropolitan Office, Apex College Baneshwor, both former and sitting office-bearers of the Powerful Bagmati Civilisation Integrated Development Committee and locals joined the campaign. The campaign aims at restoring the beauty of the historic Bagmati River, civilisation attached to it and ultimately protecting it.

The campaign today was joined by a group of students from the Japan-based Aoyama Gakuin University. The group has expressed happiness for getting an opportunity to be a part of the campaign. The campaign is run for two hours every Saturday. RSS
