Regional model UN conference to be organized in Kathmandu

US EmbassyKathmandu / February 23: The American Embassy in Nepal is going to organize a regional model UN conference in coming August in Kathmandu in collaboration with a local NGO Youth Thinkers’ Society (YTS).

The conference, supposedly the first-of-its-kind and the largest ever in Nepal, will be attended by more than 200 representatives from South and Central Asia, according to press statement released today by the American Embassy in Kathmandu.

The delegates will deliberate on various current global and regional issues, including economic integration, climate change and nuclear non-proliferation among others issues of global and regional concern.

The conference, a university-level UN simulation, is believed to further augment the leadership quality in the delegates as well as educates them about effective communication and multilateral diplomacy.

Set up in 2014, YTS is a non-profit organization, run by group to empower youths by facilitating and organizing intellectual and interactive programmes, according to the press release. RSS
