Rhinos being shifted to Bardiya from Chitwan

Rhino imageChitwan / February 28: Five rhinos from the Chitwan National Park are being shifted to Bardiya National Park from this Wednesday.

Chief Conservation Officer of Chitwan National Park, Ramchandra Kandel, said that entire preparations for moving the rhinos to Bardiya National Park have been completed.

It is said that five rhinos including two males would be taken to Bardiya. Two rhinos would be shifted on March 2 and three others on March 6.

The rhinos to be taken from lower belt of Sukhibhar in Kasara area would be released in Babai valley in Bardiya, Kandel said. The total cost for the transfer of the rhinos is estimated Rs 8.3 million. He added that plans are afoot to relocate altogether 25 rhinos within three years. RSS
