Inter religious body playing key role in promoting social harmony

Nepalgunj / March 7: The initiatives taken by local religious leaders to maintain religious and social harmony has been highly appreciated.

The role played by the local ‘Internal Religious and Social Harmony Forum’ has been lauded. The Forum has been formed under the chairmanship of Hindu religious leader Chandranath Yogi with Christian religious leader Benjamin Shrestha, Buddhist leader Gunja Bahadur Lama, Shikh religious leader Rajendra Singh Sardar and Islamic religious leader Maulana Abdul Manjari as members.

Mid-Western Regional Police Chief, Deputy Inspector General Madhav Nepal said, “Collective efforts at promoting inter-religious tolerance by different religious leaders have helped to maintain social and religious harmony as well as peace and security in Banke district.”

The Forum, formed to end religious and communal discord seen in Nepalgunj nine years ago, has been found expanding its activities at promoting social cohesion in villages.

A local Jhagaru Yadav of Kamdi VDC said that religious and social harmony has now been maintained in the district and religious leaders take collective initiatives to settle religious dispute seen in the district.

The Mid-Western Regional Police Office has today honoured the religious leaders for their role to maintain religious and social harmony. RSS
