Tourism festival in Rukum
Kathmandu / March 21: Pupal Yarsh Mahotsav is going to be held at Ranmamaikot VDC of Rukum district with a view to developing the area as a tourist destination. Ranmamaikot village is known as the basket of Yarsagumba (cordyceps sinesis) in the district.
At an interaction programme organised in the capital city on Sunday, chairman of the event organising committee, Laxmi Prasad Pun, said that the fair is being organised by keeping the tourism potential of the region in view. It is said that the venue of the festival is located at the height of 4,400 metres.
On the occasion, the speakers said that the endangered species of Yarsagumba (cordyceps sinesis) found in Ranmamaikot could be very fruitful for the nation’s development.
Local Development Officer of Rukum, Chintamani Sharma, said that the government should keep the area in priority for its tourism potential citing that 15 lakes and dense Magar settlement could be the major attractions for tourists.
Likewise, First Vice President of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), Tej Gurung, and President of Nepal Mountaineering Association Ang Tshering Sherpa also pledged their supports on behalf of their organisations to make the Pupal Yarsh Mahotsav a success and termed the step as a positive one.
