Sajha Yatayat to add 30 big buses in Kathmandu
Kathmandu / March 24: Few days after Mahanagar Yatayat introduced new comfortable public buses in Kathmandu Valley, Sajha Yatayat is also adding its fleet by adding 30 new large-sized public buses.
Sajha is adding its fleet with the investment of Rs. 100 million, the company has announced. Sajha signed an agreement with Indian automobile manufacturer Ashok Leyland on Thursday for bringing the buses. Kanak Mani Dixit, chairman of Sajha Yatayat and Gaurav Kumar, representative of Ashok Leyland Ltd. India signed the contract.
Manager of Sajha Yatayat Mahendra Raj Pandeya informed that these will be disabled-friendly buses with capacity of 40 seats and, including passengers who stand up, a total of 100 people can travel in the bus at a time.
Sajha is currently operating 16 buses in three routes in the Valley – New Bus Park-Airport, New Bus Park-Lagankhel and Lagankhel-Budhanilkantha.
The new buses are arriving in four months but it has not yet been decided if they will operate in existing routes or new ones. Kapil Shiwakoti, chief executive officer of LT Enterprises Pvt. Ltd, the sole distributor of Ashok Leyland vehicles in Nepal, said that addition of the buses to Sajha Yatayat’s existing fleet of buses will be a milestone in Kathmandu’s urban transport while speaking at the program.
Sajha Yatayat has been supported by the Kathmandu Municipality Office for procuring and operating these new buses for easing transportation in the capital.
