National Journalism Day to be marked on May 5-7

MediaKathmandu / March 30: Preparations were made to mark the National Journalism Day for three days across the nation. The day would be marked on May 5, 6 and 7.

The meeting of the main committee formed for the purpose held today at the Ministry of Information and Communications decided it.

Information Minister Sherdhan Rai, chairing the meeting, said that the Journalism Day has the special meaning therefore, it should be marked with high priority and urged all to support for the same.

Detail programme regarding it would be finalized from next meeting. Earlier the Meeting of the Council of the Ministers has decided to mark the day.

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry Dinesh Thapaliya urged the concerned bodies to submit the details of their programmes until April 22. On the occasion, preparations were made to mark the day, it is learnt.

Similarly, RSS General Manager Nirmala Acharya informed that a foundation stone would be laid for the construction of a building of RSS and journalism training would be organized.

The Gorkhapatra Corporation General Manager Sushil Koirala informed that postage stamp and silver coin would be issued on the occasion.

Similarly, Nepal Television, Radio Nepal and other broadcasting agencies would organize various programmes on the occasion.

The meeting has formed a five-member committee led by Raghuram Bista, Director General at the Department of the Information for the selection of the slogan and details of the programme. RSS
