Environment Committee directs Forest Ministry to manage wild animals’ body parts

ParliamentKathmandu / April 3: The Environment Conservation Committee (ECC) of the Legislature-Parliament has directed the Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation to properly manage the body parts of wild animals.

The meeting of the ECC on Sunday issued such directive in light of its recent inspection of the body parts of wild animals stored at the Armed Forest Guard Training Centre at Tikauli and in Chitwan National Park Office. The inspection was carried out under the leadership of ECC Chairman Janakraj Chaudhary.

The committee said as part of the management, a technical team should be assigned to count the number of fresh body parts of wildlife.

The committee also said national and international educational and scientific sectors as the National Forensic Science Laboratory could be used on the basis of the need and relevance and as per laws for the management of the body parts of wildlife.

The committee also reached a decision to make laws regarding this. Even the budget could be allocated to build a museum to store such body parts and set up a processing centre. RSS
