NEA employees demand high level committee to curb electricity pilferage

ElectricityKathmandu / April 4: The employee’s union at Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has demanded a high level committee to control electricity pilferage and conduct monitoring.

Union Chairman Rameshwor Poudel shared that such demand was made in view of current leakage- 25 percent of the electricity. If it was addressed on time, the consumers would get immense benefit, he added.

Moreover, Poudel argued that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the NTA to mark Baisakh as the leakage control month following the union’s demand.

The union has also demanded that the government itself invest in the Budigandaki, Dudhkoshi, Tamor, Nalsinghgad, Uttgar Ganga hydropower projects.

Meanwhile, the 10th general convention of the employees’ union has elected 65-member new committee under the chairmanship of Poudel. RSS
