National meet on Army Welfare Scheme kicks off

nepal armyKathmandu / April 5: The national gathering of the serving and retired soldiers of the Nepalese Army and the representatives of their families benefitted by the Army Welfare Fund has started at the Army Headquarters here today.

Two hundred people including the district, zonal and regional representatives as well as the contact persons of the Nepalese Army Welfare Board are attending the national meet organised by the Board.

The two-day national gathering is organised with the objective of discussing on ways of reaching the plans and programmes of the welfare fund to the doorsteps of the serving and retired Nepalese Army soldiers and their dependents by enhancing the access and effectiveness of the scheme.

The Nepalese Army has been issuing concessional loans through the Welfare Board to its soldiers, the retired servicemen and their families for the uplift of their living standard.

So far, Rs 1.43 billion has been issued in loans to 10478 beneficiaries under the army welfare scheme. RSS
