President Deuba, leader Poudel register candidacy for PP leader

Sher Bahadur DeuwaKathmandu / April 5: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ramchandra Poudel today have registered their candidacy to the post of party parliamentary (PP) leader.

The leaders have reached the PP office, Singhdurbar for registering the candidacy with the supporting leaders.

President Deuba was proposed by Farmulla Mansur and seconded by Padma Narayan Chaudhary while leader Poudel was proposed by Prakash Man Singh and seconded by general secretary Shashanka Koirala.

After registering the candidacy, President Deuba informed that his candidacy was to enforce the constitution after resolving Tarai issues and to lead the party with unity.

Likewise, leader Poudel clarified that his candidacy was to resolve the internal dispute seen in the party and allocating the responsibility to the leaders. He added that election was the democratic process.

Three-member committee led by NC central member Ramesh Rijal has been formed with regards to the elections.

The committee is scheduled to make public the final name list of the candidates at 2 pm today and the elections will hold on Wednesday at 11 am to 2 pm, said the central committee member Gururaj Ghimire.

Electronic machine will be used to hold the elections, he said, adding that and the Election Commission officers instructed lawmakers in this regard today.

Names of the candidates will be put in alphabetical order in the electronic machine. Likewise, the elections to the NC parliamentary working committee are scheduled for April 8.

The committee comprises of the total 15 members each from the seven provinces and selected on the basis of proportional representation.

The date for registering candidacy for the elections will take place on April 7 from 11 am to 1 pm, while the final name list of the candidates will be publicised on April 7 at 5:30 pm the same day. RSS
