Public awareness on organ transplant thru sports

Human OrganBhaktapur, April 6: The Human Organ Transplant Centre and Arogya Foundation are jointly organizing friendly sports events between those who underwent organ transplant and people representing other sectors.

The sports events will be organized to impart a message nationwide that people with organ transplant are healthy from all aspects. The event that has been organized in Nepali New Year, Baisakh 1 (April 13), is to take place in Dharan this year.

At a press conference organized by the Centre in Bhaktapur on Tuesday, its Director Dr Pushkar Chandra Shrestha informed that the Seventh Nepal Organ Transplant Friendly Sports Competition is to be held on coming April 13.

The event which is taking place on the premises of BP Koirala Institute of Medical Science in Dharan includes football, athletics, badminton and marathon, he informed.

Dr Shrestha further said, “We are organizing this event to spread a message that people with organ transplant can also survive a life as other healthy people can”.

The contests will be between two groups, one of people who underwent organ transplant and another comprising doctor, nurse, journalist and leader.

A team consisting of 200 people is heading to Dharan to be the part of the friendly event. RSS
