Nepal Cancer Hospital to start services from April 27
Nepalgunj / April 8: State Minister for Finance, Damodar Bhandari, today went on an inspection tour of the under construction Nepal Cancer Hospital at Khajura of Banke district.
On the occasion, Hospital’s Management Committee Chairman Kismat Kumar Kakshapati briefed the state minister that the hospital would start providing its service from April 27. State Minister Bhandari pledged continued financial among other necessary support for the hospital’s completion.
The government has already provided Rs 270 million while Rs 50 million in addition was drawn from the local’s support, Chairman Kakshapati said. The total cost of the construction of Nepal Cancer Hospital proposed by Prakhar Paropakar Mission Nepal is estimated at Rs 870 million.
The hospital has sought Rs 398 million from the government for fiscal year 2016-17. Kakshapati further added that they are seeking more fund from national and international social organizations. Under government’s policy of providing Rs 200,000 worth of cost-free treatment to cancer patients the hospital will come into operation. The Cancer Hospital and the BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital (BPKMCH) based in Bharatpur have already reached a bilateral agreement on exchange of technical support.
The construction work of the hospital started six years ago through a collection of a handful of funds from local residents of Khajura with an aim to facilitate services to the cancer patients in the central and far western regions.
