Sher Bahadur KC elected as NBA president; Democratic panel wins majority seats

Sher Bahadur KC Nepal BarKathmandu / April 08: Advocate Sher Bahadur KC of Democratic Panel was elected the President of Nepal Bar Association (NBA), the umbrella organization of legal practitioners, defeating Bijay Kanta Mainali from the progressive panel.

KC secured 3,798 votes against Mainali’s 3,615. Two other presidential contenders – Manor Sah and Ram Prasad Prajapati – garnered 207 and 55 votes respectively.

Khamma Bahadur Khati was elected the General Secretary from KC panel. Khati had got 3,624 votes against Din Mani Pokharel’s 3,455. Of total 25 members elected, 19 belong to the new President’s panel.

The election for the 24th executive committee of Nepali lawyers’ umbrella body was held on last Saturday. The vote count had begun on Tuesday. A total of 71 candidates had competed for the 25-member new NBA executive committee.
