Govt moots state pension for farmers in business for 20 years

haribolBhadrapur / April 10: Minister for Agricultural Development, Haribol Prasad Gajurel, said the government was on the threshold of introducing a provision to grant state pension to farmers involved incessantly in agricultural production for at least 20 years.

Addressing a ceremony held by Agriculture Development Office for distributing farm machinery today, Minister Gajurel added that government has brought 27-point working policy for people’s food security and expressed hope it would help draw youths towards agriculture from migrant work. “It is necessary to develop commercial and modern irrigation system and seek youths’ affiliation in agriculture,” Minister Gajurel said.

The Minister further said capital’s development would immediately follow development of the agricultural sector which in turn would strengthen the country. On the occasion, he also pledged to formulate a substantive plan on agricultural sector in the upcoming fiscal year. RSS
