50th AGM of FNCCI; PM Oli says govt now riveted on economic progress

FNCCI AGMKathmandu / April 10: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today reiterated the government is now focused on driving the country on a path of economic prosperity along with putting into practice the new constitution.

Inaugurating the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) 50th Annual General Assembly (AGM) and Commerce and Industry Day, PM Oli pointed out that in terms of the population ratio, 70 per cent or two – third of the agricultural sector should be modernized, commercialized for economic development while running agro-based industries. “We have secured everyone’s rights in the constitution, now the struggle should not be for achieving political rights, rather we should up the level to move ahead for economic prosperity and development,” the PM asserted.

The PM further added that the older laws and acts made for the industrial trade cannot fulfill today’s necessity and that it needs to be modified. PM Oli said the government was advancing works for modification of the acts and legal frameworks, and urged for support to end corruption for creating a civilized society. “Whether it is India visit or visit to China, we have done some works pertaining to efforts to ramp up Nepal’s industrialization, commercialization and modernization; foundation has been prepared,” PM Oli insisted.

FNCCI President Pashupati Murarka said the government before taking under control industrialists and businessmen in name of violating law should at first allow them to divulge enough clarification. “The government is taking action against industrialists and businessmen by bringing forth around six decade old blackmarketeering act, which is ‘control-oriented’,” Murarka said.

On the occasion, FNCCI conferred cash award to the Society of Economic Journalists, Nepal (SEJON). FNCCI will mark the entry into its 50th year of establishment by holding a host of programmes across the country throughout the upcoming Nepali New Year 2073. RSS
