Trail to second camp of Mount Everest constructed
Solukhumbu / April 12: The task of constructing trail to second camp of the world’s highest peak Mount Everest (Sagarmatha) has been completed.
The task was accomplished however it was very tougher to open up trail to second camp from base because of several obstacles including snow river, ice fall and holes.
A team of icefall doctors successfully completed the task of opening up trail to second camp, said Kapindra Rai, Programme Officer of Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee, which was entrusted with the responsibility for the same.
Though the earthquake was supposed to create trouble at the outset of the work, it did not disturb much, he said.
So far 19 expedition teams have scaled to the Sagarmatha via new traail after its construction from Namche. An arrangement has been made for all climbers to register their names at Namche-based Committee’s Office.
Some 38 groups have headed to base camp from Namche to scale Lhotse and Nhutche Summits, according to the Committee’s record. A mountaineer who registers his/her name at the Committee Office can stay for 75 days in Sagarmatha area. RSS
