Govt to run school enrollment and welcome to school programme

Kathmandu / April 12: As in previous years the government is to implement the student enrollment, the welcome to school, and student retention and learning outcome reform programme for the compulsory education.

The slogan of the programme which will start from the beginning of the new school session is – ‘Our wish – Affordable School Education’. This campaign has been running since 2006.

The Department of Education has urged the bodies concerned for enrollment of the ‘out of school’ children to the education mainstream, as it would be difficult to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Education for All objective that the country has committed before the international community until there is equitable access of all to school education.

An awareness and publicity programme would be conducted from April 14 to 26 and door-to-door programme from April 27 to May 12 under the campaign.

Children of 5 to 12 years of age fall under the target group of this programme. RSS
