Trauma centres to be set up along highways; Bahrabise-primary health centre to make modern building

Clean BagmatiKathmandu / April 19: Minister for Health Ram Janam Chaudhary has said that the government was preparing to set up trauma centers along the East-West Highway.

Talking to media, Chaudhary added that such treatment centres would be set up along the highway as the road accident rate was higher in the highways.

He added that about five to six centres would be established along the East-West Highway and some in internal road sections as well. It is noted that the people injured in highway accidents are now compelled to reach Kathmandu or India for the Trauma Centres service.

Similarly, the Bahrabise-based Primary Health Centre is to make a modern building. The April 25 earthquake had destroyed the Centre’s building.

The three-storey building with 10-bed would be constructed at a cost of around Rs 190 million with the joint assistance of government, USAID and US Army Corps of Engineers.

At a programme organised on Monday, Health Minister Ram Janam Chaudhary, Health Secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha, US Ambassador to Nepal, Alaina B. Teplitz, among others jointly laid the foundation stone for the building.

Some 112,000 people of Ramche VDC and the vicinity would be benefitted after the construction of the building. The building to be constructed on ‘US Army Corps Engineering’ model would be disabled–friendly.

On the occasion, US Ambassador Teplitz said they would also provide medical equipments after the completion of the building. RSS
