UAE embassy begins operation in Nepal

UAE EmbassyKathmandu / May 10: Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, arrived Kathmandu on Tuesday by special aircraft to inaugurate the embassy of UAE.

The UAE foreign minister arrived here upon invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa.

After a official talk, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah inaugurated the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Lazimpat, Kathmandu.

The UAE has appointed Saeed Hamdan Al Naqei the ambassador-designate to Nepal with the opening of its embassy. Al Naqei has not presented his credentials to the President.

The six-member delegation led by the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari today.

During the meeting held at Sheetal Niwas, both sides stressed on the need of further strengthening mutual relations, harmony, cooperation and benefit, said Spokesperson of the Office of the President, Khadanand Dhakal.

They also discussed various issues regarding tourism, natural means and resources and labour and employment, it is learnt. High-level officials of the government were also present on the occasion. Nepal and the UAE established diplomatic relations on 22 January 1977. RSS
